Entity
- Entity
- A digital representation of a physical item. In this context, an entity can be a device or a space.

- Device
- A piece of equipment with IoT capabilities with the purpose of executing or providing a task.

- The purpose the device is built for

- Device ID
- A series of characters that uniquely identify a device across the digital world
- The device ID of this forklift is FORKINC_S1_1223 
 
Facility
- Facility
- A geographically delimited place that is built or established to serve a particular purpose
- Our headquarter has many facilities including offices, manufacturing plants, and warehouses 
 
- Space
- A geometric delimitation within a facility that logically identifies a part of the facility
- The bathroom on the second floor identifies the space where our device is located 
 
- Space Type
- The logical purpose of a space
- A floor is a type of space in a building 
 
- Space ID
- A series of characters that uniquely identifies a space across the digital world
- The space ID of the Men’s bathroom on the third floor is eea97c83-26a1-4d5c-b917-5258b973423b 
 
Actors
- Information provider
- An entity that exposes digital data through the FDS specifications
- Clean Inc. is the information provider for all IoT connected devices in the bathroom 
 
- Information consumer
- An entity that consumes digital data through the FDS specifications
- The building contractor knows which faucets are leaking in the hotel by consuming the information provided by Faucet LLC. 
 
- Manufacturer
- The company that originally designed, manufactured, and sold the device. Most often a manufacturer is an information provider.
- Disp LLC is the manufacturer of the D10 soap dispenser 
 
- Digital Twin Producer
- The software company that provides the digital representation of a physical environment. Most often it also manages the location of devices in this environment.
- Map Inc. who scanned our building is the digital twin producer who mapped the floor plan of the facility 
 
- Device Location Manager
- The software company that manages where devices are located in the digital representation of the physical environment. Most often the Digital Twin Producer is also the Device Location Manager.
- Map Inc. is also the device location manager that provides where our soap dispensers are located in the building 
 
- Resource Owner
- The entity that entered in a business relationship with the information provider to gain access to the device data exposed by the information provider
- When Warehouse, Inc. bought the forklift from Fork, Warehouse, Inc. became the resource owner of the machine 
 
- Resource Manager
- The persons and/or entities that manage the resource on behalf of the resource owner
- Both the BSC and facility manager are the resource managers of all dispensers installed in this building 
 
- Client application
- A software application that consumes information on behalf of a resource owner
- This cleaning company uses Manage SaaS as the client application to manage its fleet of all cleaning machines
